Ok, let’s jump right into part 3 of this 4 part series comparing Hubspot and RhinoSEO. Today we’ll evaluate the analytics tools of each product and measure them based on a single criteria: the quantity and quality of relevant data about website visitors and their sources.
Comparison of Traffic Sources Tools:
When using Hubspot, the majority of the analytics are found in the “Sources” tool. Here’s what the user sees when first opened:

.....and here's RhinoSEO's version:

Let's compare these two tools to see how they stack up:
Features Common to both products:
- Each shows traffic stats in a bar chart format
- Each shows number of visits by the following sources: organic, paid, referral, and social media
- Both allow the user to hover over a section of bar chart to reveal the exact number of visits from that source
- Both show keywords used by visitors and by which search engine(have to go to keyword tool in Rhino but it's there)
- Both show referring sites
Data about Visitors and Sources that only Hubspot Provides:
- Shows two additional sources of traffic: email marketing and direct traffic
- Shows detailed stats for each traffic source. For example, clicking on "Paid Search" on the right side of the page will show the user the following:
- Shows the following stats for each traffic source: # of leads, # of customers, plus conversion rates for visit to lead, lead to customer, and visit to customer.
- By clicking on the blue # of leads or customers in the chart at the bottom of the page, the user is shown all leads captured from that traffic source for the specified time frame.
- Breaks "Paid Search" visits down by specific campaign
- Breaks "Email marketing" visits down by each email campaign and each message sent
- Breaks Social Media visits down by source: Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, ect. Here's how that looks:

- Shows stats for customizable time frame: anywhere from a single day to multiple years (Rhino only shows bar chart in one week intervals, and visitor stats at bottom of page for a given month exactly as it's shown in the above pic.) Here's what Hubspot's Sources page looks like showing stats over a customized 18 month period:

- Hubspot also allows the user to see Marketing events on the bar chart. By checking "Marketing Events" on the right side of the page, an "E" appears everywhere a marketing event occurred in the specified time frame. Hovering over the icon shows the details of the event. Here's how that looks:
- Hubspot also allows the user to see visit to lead conversions on the bar chart. On the right side under "visits", clicking the checkbox beside "visit to lead" adds the bright blue line representing the visit to lead conversion rate over time:
- Hubspot also shows leads and customers by source in the same bar chart format. By clicking the drop down arrow beside "Visitors" on the right side of the page, the user can select either leads or customers and see the following:

Traffic Data only RhinoSEO provides:
- Rhino provides the user with visits by specific search engine for a specified month (hubspot shows the search engines in it's keyword data, but not totals for each in report form) Here's how that appears to the viewer:

- Rhino also shows percentage of traffic from each search engine below the traffic bar chart.
- Rhino also provides the user with a heat map that shows where visitors click on a given page. (I couldn't capture an image of this, so if someone wants to send me one I'll gladly include it.)
Other Analytics Tools available from each product:
Hubspot's Reach Tool:
This one was shown above, but it's a unique Social media tool that tracks all social media accounts and shows the following: visits from each source, percentage of change over previous month, and percentage of change from previous year.
Hubsot's Blog Analytics Tool:
Hubspot's Blog Analytics Tools offers the following information about a users blog:
- Customizable Chart showing email and rss subscribers
- Total Page views and page views per article
- Total comments and comments pers aticle
- Inbound links for each article
- Time frame each article was published
- Blog grade
Here's how it looks:

Conclusion:
It's pretty clear by this comparison that Hubspot provides the user with a superior set of analytics tools. Having more data gives the user the opportunity to make better decisions, and Hubspot not only gives substantially more information, but also allows the user to customize the data to obtain insights that could not have otherwise been achieved. Every web marketing campaign is tempered by good analytics, and Hubspot's are clearly second to none.
