Hubspot Marketing: How Can Hubspot Help My Business Generate Leads?
Posted by Jason Hughes on Wed, Feb 02, 2011 @ 09:39 AM

As a business owner, it's important to understand that Hubspot has a singular objective, to empower you with the tools needed to generate and nurture tons of leads through inbound marketing.
What is inbound marketing?
To understand Hubspot you must first understand the concept of inbound marketing. Imagine as a business owner you're a fisherman and your prospective clients the fish. Traditional outbound marketing methods such as TV, radio, print, direct mail, etc. are all inturruptive forms of marketing that are essentially like casting a net into the deep sea in hopes of capturing some unsuspecting fish.
Inbound marketing takes a different approach. Where outbound marketing relies on netting unsuspecting fish, inbound marketing caters to the ones that are actively seeking you, the fisherman. By simply offering their food of choice (information about your product or service) the fish will swim to you of their own volition.
How does Inbound Marketing Work?
The concept is relatively simple, but it requires a basic understanding of how Search Engines like Google work.
Every time you type keywords into a search engine, two columns appear. The column on the left is known as "organic" search results. These are web pages whose content best caters to the keywords that were typed in, and are free to the owners of the pages.
The results on the right-hand column are known Paid Search results because they cost the owner of the site money each and every time they are clicked. These Pay Per Click, or PPC, ads are strategically bid on for each specific keyword.
So there are two ways to drive traffic to your site through search engines, through free organic results, or through paid results. The objective of inbound marketing is to drive as much free traffic to the site as possible.
How Can Hubspot Help?
Hubspot provides business owners with all of the tools needed to dominate the free organic search engine results within any field of expertise. Therefore driving qualified traffic to your web page where lead information is captured.
These tools include:
- Keyword tools to determine what specific keywords potential clients are typing
- Search Engine Optimization tools that help you get found by speaking Google's language
- A Content Management System (CMS) that is essentially web design for dummies
- A blog platform that allows for continued content production
- Analytics tools that show trends in visitors, leads, and sales
- Forms and Landing Pages that you can build specifically to capture lead information
- Email Campaign that allow you to nurture leads
What Do You Have to Invest?
You have to invest your time to learn the Hubspot system and you have to produce great content on a continued basis forever. This is a different approach. With outbound marketing you pay an ad company to run a campaign and you sit and wait for the results that may or may not come. In other words it's reactive.
Inbound marketing is a proactive hands on approach that is education driven. It requires taking the mindset of an educator....taking what's in your head as a business owner and putting it on paper or video for the world to see. You have to produce the information based content that your consumer desires. It does take time, it does require persistance, but it will bring in more qualified leads for less money. And best of all, it has a shelf life. In other words, outbound methods are a one-and-done approach. Great web content, on the other hand, actually become more valuable over time as it gains momentum with the search engines. Articles and videos that you produce will generate leads for months and years into the furture....pretty cool!
